Three Buck Chuck and Gasoline

Trader Joe's got a visit from me on last Tuesday Morning.  I was up early for a trip to Home Depot where I bought some water based clear water based polyurethane to finish off redoing the wood floors in my apartment.  I'm not a handy man and maybe when it is all done, it may need to be redone by someone with more experience and training.  So far it is a big improvement from what is was and this may inspire me for other simple fix ups, where time isn't an issue.  One bedroom to go!

I stop at Trader Joe's early am because that is when you can get a parking space.  Midday and weekends the place is mobbed.  I like the $3.00 red wine, spend $20.00 and figure I'm good for a couple of weeks.  Amazing how a grocery story that specializes in house brands does land office business.

Many gas stations up and down U.S. 1 are now selling gasoline for about $2.95 a gallon.  How long this will last is any body's guess but it is a little bit of a break for the average Joe.  A couple of months ago I thought $3.49 was reasonable.  Regardless of price I'm driving less, you see way more hybrids on the roads and oil wells are pumping more oil.  The windows are open the air conditioner is getting a rest and it looks like the hurricane season has been replaced by Hurricane Football.  And for now I'm really happy to be in Miami.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J. Kenneth Galbraith interview. And oh, by the way, moral justification at times isn't much more than a fig leaf, you can bet someone got screwed or got the proverbial get out of jail free card.
