The Turtle and The Scorpion
A scorpion asks a frog to carry him over a river. The frog is afraid of being stung during the trip, but the scorpion argues that if it stung the frog, both would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog agrees and begins carrying the scorpion, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion points out that this is its nature.
The conflicts in the Middle East just seem like that.
And on another front Joe West, an MLB umpire is skewered by the media for grabbing Joe Papelbon by the jersey during an argument after the player seemingly made an obscene gesture to Philly fans. Papelbon was suspended for seven games for his actions. It is unclear if the league will take any action against the umpire.
Conventional wisdom is that fans in Philadelphia forget they are in the City of Brotherly Love.
And on a third front Charles Barkley spoke his version of the truth when he weighed in on the way some, many, or all families disciplined their kids in the South back in the days when he was a kid.
And on a forth front the folks that make Budweiser are upset with the way the NFL is handling their business these days. Somehow or other I'm not sure their drink responsibly campaign is working all that well, and if it did would it be good for business.
