Coral Gables Has A Job Opening, The Police Chief Quits

The City Commission wants to talk about crime at today's meeting, and the City Beautiful's Police Chief resigns.

In the past few days there have been at least three high profile burglaries, the mom of a former mayor, a channel 23 tv anchor women, and a Miami Heat basketball player have been the victims of burglaries or break ins.

The police chief had some difficulties finding a place to live in Coral Gables when he was hired.  The chief's response was to commute about 180 miles a day at city expense, for almost a year.  The police chief also applied for an opening for chief in Miami Beach

Now the commission is wondering if some crime statistic reports issued by the which may be too good to believe.

The City Beautiful would like you to believe that even one burglary is one too many in Coral Gables.

The Commission must now deal with two high level openings .  The City Manager left in April.

The former police chief does not plan to attend today's meeting.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J.
