Jim Rome Doesn't Think Much Of Marching Bands

And a lot of folks think he's the dork rather than the kids in high school or college marching bands that he called dorks.  Snarky is snarky and this may be one of the biggest PR screw ups ever.  There are marching bands of all stripes, colors, and varieties.  Military marching bands, high school marching bands, and college bands.  Police marching bands exist in large town and even small towns may have a marching band.  Social organizations like the Shriners have bands that performs in parades.

Some times you say what you think online.  What you were thinking isn't always as clear as it might be and you can always be misunderstood.  And some joking comments aren't as funny as the comedian might think they are.

I like the bands at foot ball games.  From the national anthem to the half time show and the Alma Mater.  I like marching bands in parades, I like the call to the post at the races, and a military band playing a concert in a park or at a vets funeral is a use of my tax dollars I'd approve of.

The twitter post was taken down, Jim Rome has apologized, but it is going to take a while for band members and people who like and support marching bands to forgive him.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J.
