The chickens coming home to roost
I sort of remember the "carnage" left after George McGovern lost in 1972. I was living in Florida and the formerly "old south democratic strong hold, which flipped Republican in presidential races and was increasingly Republican statewide with a few exceptions like Ruben Askew, Bob Graham, Lawton Chiles and Bill Nelson. George McGovern moved the process along by losing the state and getting less than 30% of the popular vote running against Richard Nixon.
Margorie Taylor Greene
Last night the House of Representatives voted 230-199 to strip her of committee assignments. She wasn't drummed out of the Republican Party for spreading baseless conspiracy theories. She tried to retract statements she made prior to being elected.
In a powerful moment, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., walked around the floor showing his colleagues a poster featuring a screenshot of a Facebook ad on Greene's campaign page.
The image featured a photo of Greene holding a gun alongside isolated images of Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. Underneath was the caption: "Squad's worst nightmare."
Tom Cole of Oklahoma questioned how a member could be sanctioned for comments made for past rhetoric and said the question should have go House Ethics Committee. Republicans will argue the exact opposite in the case of the former president. He was in office from November 4, 2020 until January 20, 2021, but impeaching him now is 'unconstitutional' because he has "left the building".
If you agree she's or he's a nut job, if you believe she or he would never would have been elected as a Republican except for a hiccup in the party primary that split the vote against the 'real republicans" and as a party are reluctant to impose any discipline on him/ her while sanctioning other Republicans who voted to impeach the president you deserve to be a shrinking minority party.
And some of these folks complain about how hard it is to fire government employees.
ReplyDeleteRep. Jim Jordan and the Pledge of Allegiance, why did I think of oxymoron, no he is just a moron.
