Feeling The "Bern" on the GridIron

Only in Miami might be the first comment.  Secondly, that is a gutsy move. Third, what are they thinking?



Feeling  the Bern isn't just a political catch phrase in Miami any more.

Lakatriona Brunson was named the new head football coach for Miami Jackson High School on Monday.
Lakatriona, a physical education teacher at Jackson is the featured cast member “Bernice” in South Beach Towing, a “reality show” featured on the Tru Network.

According to reports she is the first female high school head football coach in Florida.
The Jackson Generals went all celebrity by hiring Luther Campbell who was the head of 2 Live Crew back in the 1980’s.  Campbell has recently been a defensive coordinator at Miami Central, Miami Northwestern, and Miami Norland High Schools.

This may not just be a cheap publicity stunt.  Ms Brunson has been played football in a women’s league and was a member of the track team while at Northwestern High School.  Uncle Luke might have been a head coach but he doesn’t have a teaching certificate needed for a head coaching job.
Bernice plays a no nonsense tow truck driver.  Some of those skills will definitely transfer to the gridiron.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J.
