Sunday Evening Free Roll
Rising at about 6:30 am things were normal enough on Sunday. Coffee and then off to the Internet to check the news and down load the program from from Remington Park in Oklahoma where there will be some quarter horse racing this afternoon.
The headline in the Miami Herald were about hundreds of kids killed because of abuse in spite of having some connection to the Florida Department of Children and Families who is supposed to protect these kids and maintain families when the mother and father have issues. I'm not sure there are any good answers to this problem and the retirees in Florida are probably doing the best they can being one of the bigger providers of child care in the state while they hope to avoid being sentenced to a nursing home.
It's pledge time on NPR and at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami and in spite of that I listen to the radio and go to church on Sunday. I give a 90+ year old lady a ride to church. Not exactly driving Miss Daisy, but I think we both benefit from getting out on a pretty Sunday Morning. She doesn't have many other plans for the day.
I'm going to watch some races from Oklahoma, cook dinner between races, and then go to the local casino to pick up $25 in free play because I am a good customer. There are so many options regarding gambling in Miami, it reminds me of trying to stop and have a beer at every dive on Irving Park between B'ville and Wood Dale.
Long story, short I did my handicapping and made enough money to play the late pick 4. I got lucky enough to cash that ticket as well. My account at TVG is in good shape and I actually left the casino with a small profit for that session and money for a tank of gasoline.
This doesn't happen very often, and in the past a day like this would warrant a call to Dad or a cousin who would understand. And so it goes.
