Where is the Pool in South Miami?

Unless you have one in your own backyard or as part of your apartment or condominium there isn't one.  If you live in a house with a small lot there is probably not enough space to build one.  If you live in South Miami one of the biggest and best justifications for building a community swimming pool is to have a place to teach kids to swim.  Recreation on hot summer days, water exercise classes, a place for scuba diving lessons might also be reasonable uses for a pool.

Learning how to swim in Florida is a safety issue.  Drownings are too common and the loss of some one's child because they can't swim and it was something that wasn't easily available to everybody.  This issue can also apply to adults.

The South Miami Commission voted to continue the process of designing/ building the pool 4-1.  There are still unresolved issues that might derail the Murray Pool related to grant funding and design issues.

The Commission needs to act more decisively to build the pool complex and develop programs that will bring water safety to youths and adults, along with a place for kids to cool off.  The project should have been completed a long time ago.
