The New Marlins Park
Marlins Park has opened and although it took almost a month
I have been to my first game in person yesterday. If I were the beat writer for the team it
would have been hard to say many complimentary things about the game they
played. Sloppy baseball, errors a
plenty, a poor outing for Mark Behurle, a ten hit game that was snuffed out by
double plays, that was punctuated by home runs by the most unexpected players
but it was baseball uninterrupted by rain in air conditioned comfort.
Lots of schools must have given kids and more than a few
teachers the afternoon off after almost two weeks of FCAT tests. And by the look at the group of folks in the
Clevelander Pool Party in left field, an
afternoon baseball game in Miami might be a hot venue for a power lunch by the
swells in town or a place to entertain a client. The fan cams were on fire and it looked like
people were having fun but as in all things these days, a little discretion is
advised.
If you live in Miami I would strongly suggest you go to a
game. If you are visiting Miami and
there is a game in town you might consider going to see the Marlins and whoever
they are playing. Your rental car and
room taxes are paying for the building.
Marlin Park is not the stadium formerly known as Joe Robbie,
Pro Player, Sun Life, Land Shark and it is not the Orange Bowl but it is
something very Miami.
