Omaha Steaks Parte Dos

Another Omaha Steak question caught my eye last night.

If you had no access to a car would you prefer a horse or a bicycle?  The romantic in me says,"Buy the horse, take the ride.  Credit HST.  I bet my horse would raise more eyebrows than any car in any parking lot I visit in South Miami.  But the practical side of me says a bicycle would be more economical and a lot easier to deal with after a few rides to the convenience store to buy beer or ice cream.

In today's world this question this is not a small issue.  There are issues regarding health and safety when people who ride bikes are run over by cars.  Economics may also force people to find less expensive means of transportation and the price of gas is no small component.  Buses in Miami and even the light rail system have a methodology encouraging people to commute at least partly by bicycle.

Access to a car and or a driver's license looms large in finding a job and a whole host of other issues.  The license is also a form of identification, which even though regulated by the state a picture id is necessary for access to many government programs, air travel, and to do business.  The picture id has technologically replaced birth date, height weight and eye and hair color as identifiers.  In Florida you cannot get a driver's license without employment authorization or proof of citizenship.

Legally I know driving an automobile is not a right but restricting a person from driving without a reason related to safety or the abuse of the privilege is piling on and only increases the lawlessness of driving without a license.  If you passed the tests and have insurance and paid the fees I think you should be allowed to drive until it is proven you cannot do so safely.

Watching the way people drive in Miami, there are lots of people who should not be driving and they are not all illegal aliens.
