What Blood Oath Did Kevin McCarthy Take?

In the days after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol building, the two top Republicans in Congress, Representative Kevin McCarthy and Senator Mitch McConnell, told associates they believed President Trump was responsible for inciting the deadly riot and vowed to drive him from politics. Mr. McCarthy went so far as to say he would push Mr. Trump to resign immediately: “I’ve had it with this guy,” he told a group of Republican leaders." This is from the NYT.

I've heard this song and dance many times before.  And the upshot of it they would do something about it. Now in spite of the existence of tapes regarding these conversations for the most part with very few exceptions Republicans voted against any investigation by Congress of the who, what, when, why and where the riot came from and what would be gained by pushing the lies and legally dismissed allegations of fraud.

Greene, Gaetz, Brooks, Boebert, Cawthorn and several others who seem to have little interested in governing or foreign affairs and just want to stir the pot appeal to the worst of our angels like the former president need to be voted out of office and their relationship to the weakening of our constitutional system of checks and balances reviewed carefully as it related to blocking the certification of the 2020 Election.

Living in Florida, where the results last election was called more or less fair probably just because the former president carried the state, there was still "monkey business" with sham candidates, new procedures established by the Republican controlled legislature that will likely suppress turnout and redistricting maps that will likely continue Republican control.

This is a step backwards in our democratic ideals.
