Everybody's Doing It - Aging

The title is a clue from this morning's Mini Crossword in the New York Times. And in a lot of ways the idea isn't that attractive even though leaving the workforce to spend more time with your family, friends, hobbies is attractive.

One of the more problematic issues of aging is health and, in many ways, it is like dealing with the old car you might have.  It still runs but it needs more maintenance after the odometer has rolled over.  You might not like it but health related visits to the doctor are the check-in, conversation starter with the close friends I lunch with, ran with, worked with and socialized.  Even during the pandemic phone calls were health related check ins.

Recently, I have been to a few meetings at my church where being elderly was discussed and this morning, I read an article about how the latest pandemic has messed with our sense of time.

I reminded of the Chambers Brothers and the extended version of their hit: "Time Has Come Today". I wondered if it was ever going to end.
