Rumor Has It

I hope this is the last time I write about the 45th president.  He has reportedly discussed forming a new political party and ostensibly his own political party called the Patriot Party.

The War Between the States was about "states rights", ending slavery, and preserving the union.

I think the Patriot Party will first be a fictional party to allow the last Republican president to collect political contributions for his own personal benefit.  Patriots should be concerned as the result could give patriots a bad connotation and it might drift over to republicans.  

It's bad enough that the President of the United States of America thought it was possible to brow beat the Senate to follow the the lead of  138 Republicans in questioning the vote totals in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and several other states which he lost in the 2020 election.

It's even worse that the President of the United States spoke at a rally on January 6th that devolved to a riot and then worse.  

And that got us into another knot.  A second impeachment trial that will be one for the history books that as it looks now won't reach a conviction, wasn't over reach and will complicate the first one hundred days of a new administration which is a meaningless deadline given all the problems 330,000,000 in the country face.

    As a person who voted for McGovern(proudly) in 1972 I have a feeling for intraparty conflict. There were never enough ideological democrats to elect him. And in some ways the party is still wandering in the wilderness.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J. Kenneth Galbraith interview. And oh, by the way, moral justification at times isn't much more than a fig leaf, you can bet someone got screwed or got the proverbial get out of jail free card.
