Challenges, Choices and Not Getting Screwed
When the "basket of deplorables" overflows with people who don't want to "defund the police" and the algorithm adds those tired of wearing a mask, tired of being told to stay at home, tired of home schooling and in general having "cabin fever", just about everybody has their reasons to be pissed off, disappointed and confused.
On top of all the social issues, there are a lot who have lost their jobs and incomes in the hospitality and restaurant industries for a while longer if not forever.
And on the climate change front you can be forgiven if you are a little depressed about longer hurricane seasons, bigger wildfires, rising sea levels and one hundred year floods becoming annual events.
This is a good time to hit the reset button. The last four years have had some bright moments of what a good economy and technology can do and must continue to do, but there have also been dystopian moments as well.
Being "woke" and the execution of being "woke" are two different things and need to be approached strategically. I'm a Unitarian/Universalist and the term social justice/woke have become in most ways interchangeable and appropriated and misappropriated at the same time.
But the idea of living a good life that can be useful, meaningful, contributing, and hopefully pleasant requires work, compromise and at times sacrifice.
