Hialeah Park End of the Meet
The last race at Hialeah Park ran shortly after 4:30 pm on Monday the 29th. The last day of the meet is also known as getaway day. Horses are loaded on to vans and moved to the next track where they will run. Owners and trainers will have one last opportunity to win some money to pay some bills and maybe do some very last minute horse trading picking up a horse that might win next time out and unloading a horse or two that would cost money and space to move. The proverbial hay burner. My connection with RW Quarters would be coming to an end (At least until next season). The stable had a very slow start going about 0-20. The owners and the weather were problematic. A serious slump. There was a jockey change. A new stable hand came on board and things started to turn around.
