Eyeonthewind A Horse Story
June 13, 2019, Eyeonthewind broke her maiden with a win in the 1st Race at Canterbury Park. The filly's Dam was Zoominthewind and the Sire was Fly the Red Eye and the baby was foaled in Minnesota in 2016.
The owner/trainer is Randy Weidner. I've been a partner with Randy in a couple of Quarter Horse ventures and overall I can say horse ownership has been crossed off the bucket list. You can make more money flipping burgers. Working however, is not as much fun as going to the track and it is even more fun if you can hang out with horses in the morning and see them run in the afternoon or evening.
Fly the Red Eye stands in Texas for $2000.00. Zoominthewind is a mare Randy trained for Bill Price at Hialeah and she was given to Randy after the vet bills and rehab got up there. Fly the Red Eye is an AQHA Supreme Champion. AQHA's Supreme Champion title encompasses the versatility and athleticism of the American Quarter Horse. The title requires a horse to have raced and achieved a speed index of at least 90 twice. The horse must also earn at least 40 points in halter and performance classes at five or more AQHA shows, including two grand championships.
In horse racing "you breed your best to the best and hope for the best". Getting to the races is an accomplishment, and winning a race is an even bigger deal.
Fly the Red Eye has a page on Facebook and I hope Eyeonthewind does well in to the future.
