That's Why They Call It Gambling

I missed in the first race and then scored three in a row at Prairie Meadows.  I was alive to the 4 in the last race of the pick 4 and would have scored about $125 with a $6 ticket.  I had singled the 4 and started looking for ways to make some more cash using some other horses with my top pick which the crowd had made the favorite and making money in exactas and tri's if my 4 stumbled

This was a mistake.  A profit with three winners is a profit.  I had already made the let it ride bet in the Pick 4.  I had dreams of a really nice score.  This was one time I confused insurance with piling on and turned a profit into a loss in the name of being greedy.

This isn't the first time it has happened and I will probably make the same kind of mistake again. 

I had been lucky in the three prior races.  In two of the races I needed photos on the line and my horse had to run like it was on fire to catch the leader at the line and in the other the jock had carry the horse across the line.

Had I known I was going to be so lucky, I would have bet that famous horse ALL in the last race of the Pick 4.

Internet Dust Ups

 A high school classmate shared on FB, something from a 64 year old commercial pilot who had passed a exam to fly on of the latest jets in their fleet of aircraft.  I was also aware of an FAA rule about retirement at age 65 for commercial pilots.    In the U.S.,  there are no  FAA  age limits for pilots except for commercial airline pilots employed by airlines certificated under 14 CFR Part 121 . These airlines cannot employ pilots after they reach the age of 65. However, these pilots may stay on with a Part 121 carrier in some other role, such as flight engineers. What Is Official These Days?

 I would guess most people would understand what Official means.  Just because a person holds a public office doesn't mean everything he might do is official and everything he might not do is official as well. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness". from J. Kenneth Galbraith interview. And oh, by the way, moral justification at times isn't much more than a fig leaf, you can bet someone got screwed or got the proverbial get out of jail free card.
